Tour of Wheaton Central High School
The school was built in 1924 and named Wheaton Community High School (hence the name of the yearbook - WECOMI). It was renamed to Wheaton Central High School in 1964 when Wheaton North High School was completed. Unfortunately, even before our last reunion in 1999 it no longer served as a high school, but had instead been changed to Hubble Middle School (named after the famous astronomer and WCHS alumnus, Edwin Hubble).
But now it gets even worse. The building is empty, as it no longer serves as a middle school. Thanks to our kids having so many of their own kids, a new and bigger one was needed and was built near Wheaton-Warrenville High School. Good old WCHS is now closed and by the end of 2010 or some time in 2011 the property will be "developed." No one knows how yet.
So, as the Stones said, "... this could be the last time ..." Take one last stroll down those halls of memories. A lot of the school looks just as it did in 1969.
